400 watt iwasakis

im curently running 2 400 watt 6500k iwasakis on a pfo system the ballasts are the EYE type(mercury)
would it be possible to run a different type of 400 watt bulb on these ballasts.

I would stick with the proper ballast for the type of bulb your using. Some ballast's will fire a bulb that wasn't designed to be run with it however it may alter the color, intensity and or the life of the bulb. I would pick the bulb I want to use and purchase the ballast it was designed to opertate with.
