I want to get a hang out the back skimmer for my 50 gallon ... I waas looking into the refug/skimmer hang ons..any out there that people like or dislike?

the only problem with those is that the skimmer on them is pretty worthless for a 50g.
there's so many good hob's out there now... i'll give ya a few links...
but really you would be better off getting an overflow box and sump for your tank.
it doesnt have to be fancy or expensive, just a rubbermaid container, or glass tank.
you can get an overflow box for cheap,

and then get a used return pump for less money, eheim 1250 would be a good choice.
you only want the water to go through the sump 3-5 times an hour, so something that pumps 150-250gph @ 4' of head is perfect for 50g.

as for skimmers, for cheap, the bubble magus nac6, nac7 and new SWC 120 and 160 cones are looking great and range in price from $150-250.

now for some HOB skimmer links;

you could get a coralife super skimmer 65, buy your must do the mesh wheel mod to make it worthwhile

OMG you did not reccomend a CSS. Might as well flush your money down the pooper already. Skimmy linked you to some nice skimmers for your application. Check those out.

AquaC Remora is a pretty decent skimmer for that size tank. Fairly simple design. No venturi to get clogged up.....

I wouldn't go with aqua c either at least the remora anyways. roscoe would agree. I used an aqua c ev180 and it works great. Just not the remora.

What is your price range? The Aqua c 180 is a in sump or out of sump skimmer. Take a look at the skimmers Mark linked for you. You won't regret purchasing any of those skimmer. Aqua C skimmers are over priced for what they are, out dated, needs a high output pump to work decent and far behind the skimmers that are hitting the market right now. I've owned a remora and a 120 and hated both.
