Hello everybody I wanted to know if anybody could give me any tips or suggestions to improve my tank. I have a 56 gallon glass aquarium with about 60 lbs of live rock and about 40 lbs of live sand. I have an esshopps overflow box that drains my water into my sump. The water goes through a sock that came with the sump and is tranferred back to the tank using a Rio plus 2100 pump. I have a cpr backpac skimmer hooked up to the back and a aquaclear 70 power head in the tank(pumps 400 gallons per hour). I have a aquaclear quickfilter hooked up to the powerhead. I also have a rena xp2 canister filter running in my tank. In the tank I have many snails and macroalgea. 1 banded shrimp,1 chocalatechip starfish,1 royal gramma,4 three striped damsels;1 flowerplant and another type of coral. I sadly run 2- 36 watt jebo power compact. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. I just got into the hobby three months ago, which means my tank is three months old.
One suggestion I'd make is if you are using any filter pads, floss etc in your power and canister filters, make sure to keep them either cleaned or changed every 3 days atleast. The problem you get with leaving them too long is they trap waste and if left long enough before being removed/cleaned, it will degrade water quality which can fuel nuicance algae to grow and so forth.
