so he decided to dump about a 1/4-1/2 cup of kalk wassier in my 90g tank. ther is no livestock. will it be ok? ther is no calcium precipitateing. will my fuge and skimmer remove it what should i do?

No livestock, no problem. You may or may not see some precip but with that small amount I'd doubt it. Take the time to let the kid know that when there are fish or corals in the tank it will be a bigger problem. Make him watch Saving Nemo and be sure to name the first fish Nemo. That should do the trick.

ther are 2 nemos in my qt tank. thank god he hasnt done anything to that 1. thought he learned his lesson when he messed with his seamonkeys and killed them all. i have 5 tanks and never a problem.

"5yr old is in trouble."

Try "5yr old is trouble" or like mine I am not sure if they every leave trouble long enough to be able to get "back" in it.

Did he dump Kalc (powder) or kalk wassier (dilute)? I think my autotop off was consuming ~3/4 gal of kalk wassier a day.

powder had clumps of it in the tank. havent tested cal levels yet. but he did dump it on top of a 1300gph power head

also ther is no livestock other than pods.why would i be useing kalk? skimmer did over react a lil pulled bout 3 cups of liquid be fore it settled down.

amazingly my calcium is only at 480 so no damage done to the water yay

In the future, I'd highly recommend keeping such chemicals in a place where your 5 year old cannot gain access to them. Kalkwasser can be very caustic, burning skin and eyes, severely. It can cause blindness when it mixes with the moisture in your eye, corroding your cornea. It can also be a respitory irritant, if the dust is inhaled.

if your pH is at 8.1, you are just fine.

I would think the biggest worry would be a huge pH spike. My tank usually sits around 8.3 and will sometimes get up to 8.55 or so if there is a big top off during the day. Never seen any bad effects.
