Looks like coralline is starting to form on the overflow box from what I can tell. How long has the tank been up and running? How about the 125? If you scratch the coralline a bit with your finger nail, it will spore out and help spread it more.

Tank looks good!

hey thanks guys

sorry for the horrible pics some time my cam just does that!!

both tanks were started on the same day right at a little under 3 months ago

would coraline algae be forming on the sand also??

That I think would be a first.:p It could be quite possible though that you have coraline growing as well as experiencing some sort of algae growth. Also, coraline sometimes will start out on the glass. It all depends where the spores are and where the lighting and conditions are best. Take a look at the tank in this thread to see what I mean http://www.reeffrontiers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=18542&page=11&highlight=brady816 (post 160) ...

Coralline algae tends to start off on anything plastic first. I notice it on plastic then glass. So, your overflow box, powerheads, etc you'd see the first signs of it. It wouldn't be on the sand, though. If it isn't coralline, then it might just be part of normal algae cycles a tank goes through. Does it feel slimey or is it hard (like you can scrape it with your fingernail)? Coralline you can scrape your fingernail through and it feels hard.

i didnt clean the back of the tank and the stuff went crazy.....Once you get it your stuck with it for a little while.. the stuff on the sand bed does it have bubbles on top of it??? what color is it???

its not purple like the stuff on tthe back of your tank

its more like a see threw green

the stuff on the sand is about the same but a little more transparent

i havent tried to scrape it yet but thats a great idea and ill do that as soon as i get off here, im taking it if its hard its c algae and if its soft its some kind of cyano algae or some thing

thanks that makes since

love the tank in the threads and on your avatar ( the same 1 right)

thats a nice c algae build up thats how im gonna do mine also...

thank you guys!!!
