Tom, thanks I hope so lol

Peppie, I got the acrylic from Kel-tech, not sure the brand... just plane 1/4". once I install the baffles the sides will be braced. I will get that done tonight and MAYBE.... I can start moving things over in the next few days.

Well I finally got the tank ready for water. Added a spot for the 2 filter socks, and a tray so I can trow in a bag of carbon or whatever. I only used 2 baffles after the fuge so I can get flow through it rather only on the surface. Tomorrow I will start moving over all the sand and rocks. Should I keep out all the coral and inverts for a few days or whats the best way to change over I have the fish in another tank right now? This will be fun jugeling what tub/tank to put everything in while the tank settles.

Very clean looking :)

Sorry if I'm mistaken but it looks like the outflow for your fuge area is at the bottom of the baffel. If it is how are you planning on keeping the sand and macro from plugging it over time?

The outflow is at the bottom. I saw that the ETSS sumps are made the same so I thought I would try it. I dont plan on adding sand to my sump, maybe a rock or 2 for the macro to cling to. I can always install another baffel if I need to.

Right on, sounds like you have a good plan :)

Your build is coming together very nicely. The documentation proves that you have a clue on how to put together a functional system. You have tackled a bunch of DIY project on this build that are top notched and of great quality, Keep the pics and info coming.

Many can learn from this. Cant wait to see it wet!!

+1 get that beast wet and fish and coral and rock and sand and stuff... lol im not patient.

Peppie, thanks, I like doing things myself. If gives me something to do and also saves money. If you going to take the time to do it yourself you might as well also take the time to do it right, I'm sure you would agree on that. =]

It was a LONG day but I finally have her running :). The canopy I got with the 75 is a little longer than my light so I will have to change it a little so im using the one I had on the 55 for now... Maybe I should just throw a coat of gloss clear on it since it doesn't look too bad. Ill figure that out later. The rock in the tank is about all of the rock I had in the 55 but it looks like there is almost nothing. I have more being cured though.

30 minutes of skimming and its already pulling out crap from the old water. I love this skimmer.

Here you can see my phosphate sponge and bag of carbon on the little shelf I made. Im also running a media reactor with GFO along with UV sterilizer. Also you can see the screen for the bottom of the fuge.

Thanks =] I used Weldon but wasn't to confident in my seams being waterproof since It was my first time doing so. So I added silicone to seal them.

Oh ok I don't think the silicone will really do much but I guess it can't hurt. I have had good luck with weldon 16 it's thicker and you can put it on kinda like silicone.

Yeah they did... would have been a PITA without them, thanks a lot. Also I finaly said screw it and shelled out the cash for a RO/DI finally. Working on a ATO now.

Nice thread. After a small electrical fire caused by water spewing from our backpack skimmer and running down a cord to our power source, I'm looking into building a sump for my 70g. Space is tight in our POS stand, so we may have to resort to building our own sump. Thanks for the pictures and details. This will no doubt help us.

I used the 1-2-3 as a square for setting the sides of the box together then as a weight to hold the box in place as the silicone dried.
