Better stock up before they wise up, I've purchased 28 buckets of Seachem Reef Salt(only around $41.00 a bucket), 200 pounds of oolitic sand, a cubic foot of carbon, all delivered by FedEx, no matter how big the order it is $17.99 for shipping....And best of all no sales tax....The FedEx guy loves me...

I just tested it with the TDS meter, the filters are 4 months old and a reading of ZERO. I have made alot of water this summer.
 
sweet! I thought because these units were cheap for a reason but heck They all pretty much filter your water clean. So that is great news. Did you test your incoming also and compare it to the outcome?
 
well to be on the safe side I'm going with the 150g w/booster pump from the filter guys. our water is very low flow in our house ... as most of it goes to the cattle..lol.
 
i have not tested my incoming water. But it is very hard. Lots of minerals. My ro drinking water tests at 100
 
I also got my RO/DI from filtersdirect. Mine is nearly a year old and I'm just starting to get some TDS. It registers 3 ppm ..lol Even then I can't be sure the filters need changed because I did get a bit of salt from the bucket into my holding water. I'll have to get a cup or so right from the spout and see what it measures.

ret25yo - keep posting pics. I'm curious to see how this monster will turn out. I'm a vet as well... ex-Navy, so I'm happy to see the VA is making some accomodations for you. After hearing about Walter Reed, I wasn't sure if the VA was doing our vets right. Of course, if the VA doesn't get adequate funding, then there's not much that can be done. I think our "new" congress will fund them properly though.
 
glad to hear you made it back Kyle from the sandbox....I was in Doha Qatar and Saudi for 3 months while I was in the Marine Corps....only place in the world that made Mogadishu Somalia seem normal by comparison...

I realize you've already bought the pumps, but I would suggest you reconsider your plan here. One larger pump can do more for you, while using less electricity. That can be a concern if your forced to use a generator at all. As far as redundancy goes...design your plumbing so that replacing a pump is fast and easy, and then buy a back up pump and keep it ready to go.

Experiance talking here. I have two pumps in my 58 gallon tank.....I need a chiller. I have one pump running on my 120, no chiller needed. Both are in the same room.

What is used between the metal stand frame & the actual tank? Is that like a plastic or something that acts as the surface?
I have to admit, Jason is cranking out some nice work here, man very nice work!
