Hey guys, just pulled this out of a coral head. Aaron was telling me during his visit that some people really like these so LMK if you want it.

He's cute and smaller than a dime. I just don't like having crabs in my system.

Also, FYI, I picked up another 20 peppermints from Shark Reef and he is still selling them at $5/ea when you buy a few at a time. That's as good as online pricing without the shipping and DOAs. :D

that is not an acro crab. I pulled 4 or 5 of those off some of my corals that I got last year. They were pealing the tissue off the acro's.

The best acro crabs are Trapezia & Tetralia species. There are some other good ones as well. The one in your image appears to be a Cymo and is destructive.

Hey guys, giv ethe crab a break! Look how cute it is...

Leslie: What is your backround? You seem to have some good info. on critters. Do you know what's the story with the rear appendages? That looks like quite an interesting genetic morph.

I also forgot to mention that when I picked up the peppermint shrimp from the Shark Reef (after hours), he gave me two SPS colonies. It seems that SPS is not selling well on the West Side so they are not in great shape, but typically SPS corals come around in my system. I will take pics if they heal.

jnarowe - Inverts are my profession & my passion. I'm a marine biologist working at the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County as the collection manager for the polychaete section. While I don't keep a tank I'm very interested in what reefers have to say about their animals. Sometimes reef keepers are able to document aspects of natural history that are still unknown to scientists.

There's nothing unusual about the back legs. That's just one of the wide variety of shapes that occur among crabs.

If you want to get rid of it why not send it to us? The crustacean department here is doing some genetic research and would love to get a variety of crabs preserved in alcohol.

Not a bad idea. Check out my home page for a specimen that we believe is not described yet. PM with info. on how you would want the crab preserved and where to ship it to.

i just killed one of those a week or two ago....i heard it wasn't a good one to have!!!!
