Acrylic paper glue

I have some 1/2" acrylic with the paper protective backing and for the life of me I cant get the glue off. Is the some trick to getting it off? I don't want to use some harsh chemical if it will leech back into the water in the tank or scuff up the surface.

Best thing I've found to get stuff off of acrylic is another piece of acrylic. Just use an edge and whatever it is will usually come off without scratching.

Late again, But a good soaking in water & rubbing Alcohol.
