I was wondering if anyone knows of an actuated valve that I could use for my topoff. I want to control the valve to direct water to a Kalk reactor when my PH drops below a certain point and bypass the reactor when the PH is above a certain value.

I'm using airline tubing for topoff right now.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you go to the mcmaster web page. Do a search for #7876k14. That should do it for you.

Thanks Don. If I use that I'd have to run 2 of them right? One for the freshwater line and one for the Kalk line.

I really want to use a 3-way actuated (solenoid) valve to direct topoff water to either the sump directly or to the Kalk reactor based on the PH level. Just can't seem to find the valve that isn't either brass or stainless steel.

Thanks

Is your TO pumping out of a container or direct hookup from rodi to sump?
If your pumping what are you pumping with?

I'm using a peristaltic pump and a 35 gallon container.

I just don't trust a valve not to fail with a direct line from the RO unit

Here is another at mcmaster half the price and should be fine with such low flow but you will need 2. #7877k25

Thanks Don!

Might just have to do that. I'd still like to have a 3 way valve, but I think this will be more economical. I suspect I can use a relay to turn one on and the other off and vice versa since they are normally off valves. I'm running out of plugs for electricity very quickly.

Ya just plug a wall wart into your ph controller and use a dpdt relay. One is NC, on is NO. Just wire the coil to the common then you only need one plug.
RS will have a relay.

I have one of those silenoids that I thought I would try. Mine may just be a bad one, but it buzzes a lot, and it is annoying. I have also heard that there is metal inside that is exposed to the fluid passing thru. Cant say for sure. If you want mine to play around with you are welcome to it.

I think you got a bad one. Ive got one for shutting down the skimmer intake and its quiet. You may be passing to few amps also. Solenoids take more juice than motors.

Don I think I have enought juice, I have 2 20 amp runs just for the tank, and am using less then half of it. Does it take a lot to open it, or to keep it open too?

The ones were looking at are 12vDC, the first one is 630ma and the second is 520ma. I assume your talking a/c.

Ahhh, yes mine is AC. Hmm I thought it was the same one as the pic, I guess not. It looks a lot like that one tho.

They make both versions on the same unit Tom, so you probably do have the one in the pic, just different internals.

I think I might order one of the 12 VDC units to play with. I like the low voltage items when I am working with water ;)

Most ac solenoids in general are noisy, they lack the ground that allows the e-magnetic to latch.

Hey don, here is a picture of that silenoid taken apart. I am borrowing the picture from Zephrant from RC, I hope he dosn't mind

Reed that other valve has brass inside, which is a derivitve of copper. Not so good. So I just found this one that is all plastic and some stainless steel. http://www.purewater4u.com/store/Aquatec.shtml It is down on the page and is 24vdc.

here are the specs
