I have heard of people that will treat for ICH everytime they add a new fish. Does anybody here do this? I usually do not but have thought of it. What is your imput.

Hi
Not sure of what you mean by treat new fish. It is recommended to Quarantine new fish before they go into the display. If one has the test kits and skill, never hurts to run copper in the QT. The only real way to treat the tank is by leaving it free of fish for an extended period or running copper if no coral or inverts.

What I meant is some people will actually treat their display tank for ICH everytime they put a new fish in the tank just in case a new fish has it.

Non-copper based bottled Ich treatments, are only good in raising the bottom line for the manufacturer of fish tank suppliments.
Brings to mind fishing lures that attract more fishermen than fish.

I agree with Mike's first post. I've never heard of people treating their main tank for ich whenever they introduce a new fish "just incase", but the route they usually take is setup as Mike stated is with a quarentine tank to treat all new additons. That way you don't have to mess with your display tank for something that can be avoided. :)
