Adding another clown?

I have a snowflake clown and was wanting to get another but don't want the established clown to kill a new one. Can a new clow be added and if so whats the best way? They arn't cheap and I don't want to kill any fish on a hunch.....or poor idea.

Your clown has been alone long enough to most likely be female. I would say just make sure the new one is dramatically smaller and you should have no issue at all.

i used to use a small container in the tank to acclimate similar fish together. it works great. keeps the fish from fighting, get's them used to seeing them. doesn't take long for them to accept their new neighbors.
i used this. it was also my DIY fish trap. it is just a little beta tank with holes in it to allow water flow. i helped a friend pair up a male and female angel fish. this is how i introduce new tangs as well. 3 days of slashing at this plastic container, and that's it. no fighting when the new guy gets let out. no injuries sustained by any fish. i highly recommend it. you can make a bigger one. i can't find a pic right now, but in my large system i had a 10g size acclimation container.

That is a really good idea now I may have to see about adding another fish now. Been to scared with the chance them fighting.
As far as the clowns go you never know but I have had great luck when adding clowns they may twich or shove each other for about a week but they always work it out in my expierence never seen them hurt each other. I added a couple months ago a pair of black clowns with my orange and they got along after a week felt a little bad since the new guys stole there host but with 3 others to choose from they where fine.

it really does work well. i had a much better one that i made out of acrylic but i can not seem to find the picture of it. the added benefit is keeping a close eye on new additions to the tank. if they start to show any signs of ich or stress it's SUPER EASY to pull them out and hospitalize them. i'll keep digging and see if i can't find the "how to and write up" on pairing my friends angels.

Yes I would get a small male for your current clown.

i have a small black and white (onyx) clownfish that i can sell for you. i just picked up a mated pair this weekend, so have three black/white. will pm you. opps sorry, didn't see where you were located.

they would work fine as they are both ocellaris, it'd be like a guy with brown hair dating a blond girl you just don't want to have different species of clowns (ocellaris and tomato for example) together.

Of course aesthetically you may want to keep two which look the same. good luck finding him a mate.
