danno gave me(free:pthanks danno) 2 polyps of these AOI's at the psas frag swap too..right now i already have 2 full grown babies(look like 2 little yellow green eyes) and 4 more bumps on the way..cant believe theyre fast grower...i put them in a high flow...AOI's or blue hornets?they look the same...

I have a few colonies of these and I found that when I have them in the shad they do a lot better for me. I have tried them in high light and they did O.K but not 100% happy.

when i got mine i put it in one place and i didnt move it at all..maybe yours got stress on shipping you said when you got it the water was cold,,awww:( sorry to hear that,i hope that 1 polyp survive..tubbs blue melted on me yesterday..:(

The frag I got from danno had ~9polyps and my guess now would be at least 20. they have been doing very well even under my pc lighting in my nano, well at least until I get my big hex up and going :)

I bought two polyps of them and one never opened, the other disappeared one day. It's a mystery polyp we hope to see again. Tom, you should totally hook us up with one of your 20, specially now that you live so close & all..... ; )

of course, all though I didn't end up moving out to that area, i'm about the same distance as before. I'm in lake tapps now. I'm acutally going to undertake the moving of my nano in a few minutes to the new place. YAY!!!................not.

hi sid hows your 1 polyp doing?
hi tom,if ever you move them goodluck...i move mine in my new tank and they didnt open till one by one starts to disappear....i tried moving and see if i can get them to open, till im down to 3 polyps(from 10p),i permanently place them in the middle of my tank up high with a lot of flow...that was 2 weeks ago,now i check it and 2 polyps open in my surprise and 1 is half open...i guess thats gonna be their permanent place.....i hope they bounce back...goodluck on the move..they are really sensitive i thought they are easy:D

Tom, that's good to know!! They're notorious for melting away. BUT, most people that have had melting issues have had it at about 3 weeks. I think those have all been wild colonies. Since you got a frag from Danno, it'd obviously been in his tank longer than 3 or 4 weeks. I think you're in the clear! What kind of light and flow are you giving it? I'm treating mine as an SPS...lol. It's high in the tank and getting pretty decent flow. From what I've been reading, these Zoanthids like that.

The captive frags should be more durable. The press release we got from our wholesaler recently addressed the melting issue. Apparently the wild African Blue Steel or Blue Hornets come from very shallow water with incredibly high flow and intense light. The wholesaler said if they dont keep them under really high flow they experience the melting also.
