Remove the powerheads, and install a closed loop manifold with a screened overflow. For more info, see Anthony's stickied thread in his advanced topics forum on Reef Central.

If the anemone has extricated itself (you didn't pull it out, I hope) leave it alone for 24 hours, then offer it food at least once a day (small, shredded pieces, no large chunks or whole fish. 1\4 inch or smaller!) and keep any clownfish you might have from hosting in it if at all possible until it is fully healed.

One of my BTA clones got stuck on my 3 way closed loop intake.

As I said, I have a 3 way screened close loop intake manifold and one of my BTA clones managed to get stuck to my closed loop intake. The 3 way intake is shaped like an upside down T and disperses the suction of the closed loop pump over three 1 inch mesh grills. The intake suction is so gentle that snails routinely cross over it and graze on anything caught in the grill.

So I repeat, if you have an anemone, it can happen.

Drilling a closed loop for smaller tanks may not be a viable solution due to cost or other reasons.

My closed loop intakes are guarded just as suggested on that thread....so its not exactly fool proof.

Other suggestions???????

i guess its a little bit more challenging for smaller tanks to get the flow going.
i don't know anything about horizontal overflow and how it works, but i guess i could give it a try as long as there's a way to put it in my tank.
Today i also did a water change and i moved my rocks, i put the anemone on a rock where flow can varely get and it seems like it likes it there.
Now my only hope is that he stays there for now on .

The sponge covering isnt bad, but you need to remember to change it out on a regular basis, (twice weekly-ish) so that it doesnt become a nitrate factory.
Basically, what you really want to do is keep the intakes away from the anemone anyway possible. I've seen people place eggcrate around the entire powerhead in order to limit the access to powerhead.
One way to do this is to make a cube of eggcrate with the powerhead inside, and use Zip ties (electrical cable ties) to fasten the eggcrate sides together.

Its not anywhere near aesthetic looking, but it gets the job done.

Another suggestion is to place the small screen the powerhead came with on the intake, and rotate the powerhead upside down so the outlet is the lowest part in the tank and the intake is away from the anemone.

Just some thoughts.

Nick, i'm definetly gonna do the eggcrate, i already have that stuff in here, so i'm gonna start cutting it and putting it in there.
i haven't tried the sponges yet, but i could give it a try too.

This is what I did after my RBTA got sucked onto my closed loop intake screen. I do have 2 intakes to divide up the draw. The anemone worked its way off, and survived. I made a cube out of eggcrate, holding the sides together with zip ties, and cut holes to fit over the CL intakes. The cube easily slipped on and off of the intakes for maintenance.

Thanks alot, i put my powerheads in the eggcrate cubes and it worked !!!
at first it was hard because i have almost no space in the tank, so i moved my rocks again, but it worked!!!.
My anemone right now its on a rock and it seems to like it there since it hasn't moved at all

Glad to be able to have helped. I would still reccomend keeping the screen that came with your powerhead on inside the box, just to be on the safe side.
