Can't tell by the pictures what they are but it does not look like aptasia. If you can get a closer picture it would help in the identification of it

How do you get rid of hydroids? Are they bad in a reef? My friend has some in his setup. How do you go about getting rid of them?

I too would like to know if they are bad or not. I have a colony growing on my LR that i bought from a guy on craigslist.

I have read on RC that the hard tubed ones aren't much of a pest..it is the soft ones that become free floating...

They are fine. Not a pest. Get a fish with a beak and they will eventually eat them for you. Arrow Crabs too, but they are a totally different story...

I'm pretty sure these are a developmental stage of a jellyfish and nothing at all to worry about. The jelly fish never gets past this stage without becoming fish food.
