Algae I think - ID Please

I'm guessing this is some sort of algae. It pops up from time to time, usually in the same areas, a couple weeks after a water change. I usually just brush it off with a tooth brush, but wondering if I should be more concerned. Sorry the picture isn't better, but it's usually dark green, sometimes with dark red gunk with a similar texture near it.

Real hard to tell from the picture, kinda looks like a turf algae. If you could get a better pic. it would help out with the id.

I took a bunch of shots with a 60mm macro, and a 18-270mm, and this was the best shot I could get due to the angle through the glass. I'll try turning the rock and taking a better picture tonight.
 
Agree, too hard to ID from the picture. I am sure it looks different in person, but it almost looks like some type of sponge!
 
Yeah, that picture makes it hard. If it looks like little tubes, it could be hydroids. Try and get a good look and describe it in detail if you cant get a better photo.
