i ordered an american aligator it is on its way, i am starting him off in a 20 gallon long and then moving to a 75 gallon once he grows a bit, i ordered him today, lets see how he does

Sorry if I sound stupid here, but I don't know of any other aligator, but do you mean an aligator like "Lake Placid" aligator? Like the reptile aligator?

Alligator?

An american alligator, from what i know, is huge and vicious... not to be kept in the home, especially confined to a tank... If it is a different alligator than what i'm thinking, lease clear up the confusion.

no that is the one, ya he will grow, i am prepaired for that, my buddy has one and it grew about a foot a year till he got rid of it.. should be alot of fun

the reptile ones, from flordia, he will be about 6 inches long

No way! That should be cool...Dangerous, but cool! Make sure you post some pictures when you get him! and of yourself in case he eats you (LOL) Just kidding! It should be a cool reptile to keep though. I've never heard of keeping one in a tank, but hey...Good luck with keeping it. I hope it works out great for you!

Excuse me if i sound rude...but.... don't you think it will be a little irresponsible to do this? I mean, you have the space for it while small but what happens then?? Do you have some type of grotto you are constructing for it when it reaches full size or do you have a place/someone you will except it after it grows too large for you??

the lfs (been in buisness 40 yrs) said they would keep it if i dont want it, they have a pool with a waterfall etc, the guy down the street has a 5 footer that is doing well, i dont think it is irresponsible, i plan to take care of it

Check your state and local codes. Most states they are illegal for good reason.

Just another fyi. ALL states have non-domestic animal import inspection regulations and permiting requirements. One little nip could land you in a state prison.

But on a lighter side. Did you know its illegal to chain your alligator to a fire hydrant in ohio?
