i came home today to find the puppy that we took in, had gotten in my display stand and eaten my mag12 power cord!!!! he only broke the surface in a few different places..one of them, he did get through to bare wire..he is very lucky he didn't bite through 2 of them together...he is also lucky that i kind of like him!!!! i am afraid of an electrical problem or fire now..if i just tape up the cord, will that be ok??

If it is far enough away from the pump to replace the plug I would cut it off and replace it. If not it will prob be fine with tape as long as you make sure it stays dry.

it's far from the pump..the cords on these things are long!!! the wires aren't broken, but i worry about the bare wires touching

I would want to use water resistant heat shrink on something like that, but that would mean you would have to cut it, slide the heat shrink on and then re-solder it, then I'd probably tape it. Does it actually sit under water where the dog got it?

i may let him run to a new home...Kimmy is tired of him.. she wants to find him a new home!!!

aahh then you better find him a good home dood.
I love dogs and my son wants us to get him one, but i know how they love chewing and pooing everywhere + we live in an apartment so we can't :D  ....and i'm sticking to it :p

I had a cat get a shock from chewing on a heater cord. Never did it again in fact she wont even go under the stand any more.

Maybe i'm just a little crazy but i would just replace the pump all together. I really don't like to mess around with electricity and water. Yes, i agree that tape will work but i just don't like to mess around with electricity.

cats are smarter like that,

cat sees a flame. burns it self..... never gonna go by fire ageain.

dog bites cord gets shocked. looks at you side ways, then goes back to biteing the cord that just shocked it.

black elecical tape will work fine, just make sure its clean and nice and rap'd so that water cant get back in there if splashed
