Man...Jon you are getting hit from all angles these days! I don't know much about fish diseases, but have read something here about black spots on a fish. I think it was in SteveS' forum I heard it mentioned. He would be a great person to talk to about it anyways. Hope you get sorted out and the fish makes out OK:)

"The msg you have entered is to shrot, please lenghthin the msg by 10"

bla bla bla

LOL...Well, there's something you can have to go by for starters. I guess Steve will confirm what it is:)

Jon,
Don't jump the gun yet. It might not be anything at all. I'd wait until you can positive ID it before starting any kind of treatment. 1-2 spots IMO doesn't mean bring out the calvery. Since this is the first day you've noticed the spots give it a few days to see if it develops into more.

Might want to get a QT started just incase you have to treat it though.

P.S. Mine clown has few dark spots here and there. They've just slowly developed with the age and never come and go. Just her/he's coloring has changed a little of the 1-1/2 that I've had it.

what would a qt tank contain, im pressed for money so i dont think thats gonna happen..... but for future refrence. another tank anther heater another skimmer?

howwa about one of thos starter sets, kits.
light,hob,heater,fake plant.

or, maybe just a nano 5 gal. with ls, and a few lbs of lr, under a 20 buck t5.

Just the starter kit is all you need ($50.00 +/-) No LS or LR.. Most treatments are done with copper based meds that kill all inverts. So there's no benefit from the LS or LR.

The lighting isn't all the important either for a fish QT. Just the basic aquarium light will work just fine for viewing. Actually if the fish is really sick you leave the light off and place tank in dark area to help keep it calm and unstressed.
But lighting is something to keep in mind when QT'ing inverts.

Some people take the HOB poly filter and put in thier main display (sump) to seed the filter with bacteria (In a water flow area). Then once the QT is needed take some water from the display and put the seeded filter in the HOB and your ready to go. It works in a pinch.

I prefer to keep mine running all time, Never know when you might see that fish you just have to have. :) To keep the bacteria levels up when nothing is in there I through some food in there once/twice a week to feed the bacteria.

My True Clown once got spots not unlike yours. After rearrangeng my tank several times the clown started to host in a new soft coral. The spots were apparently a reaction to the new coral. They went away on their own in time. He had spots on the body and fins.
