picture not the best, will try again when the lights go on, i'd describe it as, a encrusting sps with a light green skeleton and brown polyps, and just a note it's kept under pc at about 4" from the light maybe 5", rejuvinated out of a bleached out skeleton, it wasn't white the skeleton but it was quite light brownish

It's so small, you may have to wait a few months. It also might not be an encrusting coral, but rather this could just be the foot of something to come. The largest coral in my tank looked just like this less than 2 years ago. It was a small blob on a rock, and actually a hitch hiker. Now it's a large tabling millepora about 8" in diameter!

Keep watch over the summer and take notice of any branches that begin to portrude out, or if it simple starts encrusting larger and larger. Watching that coral form was one of the funnest parts of my tank.

well i'm going to move it to mh lights hopefully very soon, how do you break a coral offf of a rock, i want to leave as little rock as possible and reglue it to new rock

Hammer. Chisel. Whatever. You're going to have to break a chunk off the rock. If you get too close, you're bound to break the coral itself, as well. Live rock is so soft, you could shape the rock to fit where you want it. Just chip away at the rock itself until it's shaped to fit your needs. You'll be surprised at how easily live rock splits.

I'm laying a c-note that will be goniopora. Looks shockingly familiar. Please give us a written account on its actions and such and describe the coralites in detail if you will. Mike.

explain real quick what coralites are, here's what i think of it, the polyps are around or a bit less then 1/16th of an inch, they are retractable, it is growing out on the rock and not up, don't feed it anything special and it was still revived from pretty much white skeleton medium nutrient tank, use tap water w/ dechlorinator, have softies and what not, pretty well established system, never seen it eat anything

Did it look like this?: Look at zee blurry pictures.

Coralites are circular craters (for a lack of a better term) that house/shelter/anchor, particular polyped formed corals. Hit me back whether I'm in the boat or drowning in the wading pool. Mike.

no, not like that, i'll get a better pic, my parents took the good camera for most of the weekend, they're back now though so i'll see what i can do

I really think this is probably an SPS. Touch it, is it soft or hard? And when you touch it, I'd expect the polyps retract completely. Those polyps simply seem too small for LPS (LARGE polyp stony). :)

it is hard, the polyps can retract completely, all you can see is brown dots when they are retracted, the polyps are way to small for it to be lps, the thing is maybe a 1/2" diameter

Looks to be some type of Montipora, but cant really tell from the picture.

How large is it?
