Hey you guys,

It was my birthday on the 16th and my Mom got me red bubble anemone from Coral Beaty. And, I bought a bi-color blenny that I really wanted with some of my birthday money.

I got my anemone on the 27th, and every morning I have been hand feeding it mysis shrimp. I put a small chunk in a glass and I let it melt a little until there is some mysis in the cup melted and the the rest is almost unthawed and that piece I give to the anemone. Every morning it has eaten the entire thing!

So, I was wondering if my anemone eats so much, where does it poop? I know that sounds really funny, but I wonder. My mom doesn't know either.

Here's a picture of it and my clarkii really loves it. It only took two hours before he was snuggling up with the anemone. Now he is really mean and you can hardly feed the anemone without getting attacked.

All my other corals are doing fine and my kenya tree is growing like crazy and we gave a bunch away to a friend of my mom's at her work. That was fun. Everything Mike gave me is doing very good. When my mom cut the kenya trees off the rocks, they started growing back after a while.

Hope the picture shows up!

Thanks,

Glad to hear your corals from Mike are doing well....look forward to more pictures of your tank! Let's see your system in the Members Showcase Forum!!

Your question is a very good one. Anemones actually poop out of their mouth. Whew - I'm glad I'm not an anemone! ;)

Shilo,

Glad to hear your tank is doing so well and that your Clarkii took to his new host so fast. How about a wider angle shot of the tank? Tell mom she better catch up or your going to have the nicest tank in the family.

Thanks Erik. Just pour some more salt right about there...

Actually her tank has been stable since day one just about. No weird happenings ever, nothing has died and everything grows. What more could a ten year old want?

She also wondered if the mysis is good enough for the anemone or if it really does need silversides. I dont want it to grow much bigger, her tank is only 27 or something gallons. Not to mention the forest of trees everywhere. Cut them off and they grow right back. I call them weeds and she gets mad... haha Shilo.

Thanks, Colleen

i am quite new in the hobby , but done a lot of reading, and in the book the conscietious marine aquarist the author states when talking abouth anemone feeding ( uderfeed, underfeed), i have 3 anemonaes and they eat shrimp once a week, and have been doing great for 3 months

well i learned the hard way. i feed my LTA everyday and now it has outgrown my tank. :) it went from about 3" to over 9" in a few months. live and learn. yeah i'd cut back on feeding to once a week.

luckily though that rose bulbs will split.

Well she says it's hungry. Well, I'll let her do her own reading here to figure it out.

Yeah Matt, that's what I'm hoping. She is checking that daily... I wouldnt be surprised if it's any indication the way here tank is progressing!

Colleen I have a LTA I've had for almost three years now and i feed it about three times a week. I don't know if feeding still partically frozen food is good for them in the long run. I feed mine one of the following, a piece of shrimp, clam pieces after the copper band has eaten, which seems he likes the best or a piece of scallop. I soak whatever it is in RO/DI for about an hour first to suck out the phosphates first. Mine has stayed about the same size, maybe a little bigger.

Sorry this is a little off-topic. I am wondering if you can tell me what lighting you used on that tank? Also how deep is the tank?

I have a 29G tall and I am thinking about upgrading the lighting. Thanks!
