well, finally got this small project done... remote chiller

it took a bit of work that i kept putting off. its now in my laundry room about 18 ft from the tank,,,but i had to go through 2 walls to get there. i had to pull out mans second favorite tool, second to only duct tape--the mighty dremel. i ran flex tubing along the wall at floor level, and cut hole one in the corner of the wall into the closet. inorder to do that i had to pull out all the stiff that we stuff into it (like you dont...lol) then out the back of the closet into the laundry room. now the room is much quieter and i dont have the heat it throws out right next to the tank, which i thought made the chiller work just that much harder. it wasnt that big of a job, but a pain to actually do.

things ill do to putz with my reef...plus i got a great deal on a 100' roll of tubing...tubing for life. it was cheaper than what i would have paid at the LFS for just enough to do the job.

thanks for letting me babble.

Good Job Wit! I hope to get the courage to do this sometime. I am still too chicken run a line under my house to make a auto top off from my RO.

Great job Wit, but I have to disagree with mans second favorite tool, it has to be a sawzall, can take down a whole house with that sucker, lol.

havent seen me and my dremel at work,,,,dremel it down and put it back up with duct tape....LOL

Probably a little quieter in there by the tank too, I'd bet.

Good job, Wit :)

another project to add to the list...installed a 75gpd RO/DI unit with 50gal. container, in the laundry room next to the chiller. i ran a length of tubing through the holes in the walls to allow me to pump water straight from the resivour to the tank.

i also got the insulation onto the chilled water line.

the Unit is from Aquasafe Canada and was rather easy to install.

no problem, you paying the airfare?...lol

PS i dont work for beer,,,Crown Royal please....:D

You know what they say; you pay cheap, you get cheap. Now we know Wit does good work ;)

disturbedreefer, the overflow from the tank goes through a micron sheet then into the sump. from there it is pumped to the chiller via a mag 7. then back to the tank and dispursed by a SQWD. the RO/DI vat will have 2 power heads- a small one to keep circulation and a second one with a on/off switch for the top off hose. the hose running to the tank has a on/off valve, it will be in the closed position untill needed. then all i need to do to top off is-flip a switch and open the valve, when i have enough water shut the valve and turn the pump off. the RO/DI vat will have a float switch on it (gotta wait till tuesday to get it) and i installed an overflow to the sink with PVC pipe and an elbow. if the float should stick, excess RO/DI will harmlessly flow down the drain. i think i thought of everything.

yes sue...i said CR...MMMmmmm
