I would say no in your case Dang. The vast majority of your corals are sps and what little they require in outside food sources come from them slime netting bacteria and similar. I dont think you could dent this population in such a well established tank. If you are worried about it you could just increase their other main food source witch is detritus from fish waste, so perhaps just increase the fish feeding. With sps coral they do get between 98-95% of their food source from photosynthisis, as they have a really crappy nematsyst (sp) they dont capture food as well as soft of lp type corals, this is why slime netting is the choice for them

Mike,,,thank you for the info and advise,,i stopped my 2nd skimmer been almost 2 months already,,they are getting better//i just don't like the zeovit coral color looks,,so pale to me JMO,,and in creased more feeding:biggrin1:

i think i just over skimmed little:heh::heh: for the last 4-5 months,my 2nd skimmer just pulled all the nutrient out big time,,

I firmly believe there is such a thing as a nutrient poor SPS tank. When class clown first set up his bare bottom 240 he struggled with pale corals. Well, not so much struggled but IMO they were too pale in comparison to my corals of the same species and he agreed. We agreed that he should try feeding his fish heavier, he did and his corals gained alot of color.
Dang, you've had a gorgeous tank for years now and if you bleive that the addition of a second skimmer is having a bad effect on your corals your probably right. YOu better quit messing with your success!

hola dang!
well, I think that you hit the nail on the head here dang..
My guess is that it's the bacteria from the zeovit that is eating all the food the coral/zoexanthella were usually getting...
and using a BK and a beckett skimmer was just too much nutrient removal in conjunction with the bacteria from zeovit...
if it was me, i'd run just the BK... and start "dumping" cyclopeeze in your tank everyday...that 'll keep ur nutrients up... :)

Hello Dang :
What type of lighting are you using? Lighting plays a major part in color also.

3, 400 watt MH with 20K XM and VHO actinic supplement the last time I was at his house. Dangs frag tank with 250w MH looks better than most peoples display tank. I feel pretty confident saying that lighting isnt any sort of issue in this thread. ;)

Thanks trido :)
I am trying to rule out the lack in nutrients theory. Now I am curious what he is dosing in his system as far as zeovit. It may just be he needs to adjust his supplements.

thank you ..trido all the light still the same as trido said,BTW BK is too powerful skimmer for my system,i tune it down almost 5-10% of skiming power,,still pull out alot of coffee skimmate look like,,BK skimmer i had is good for 750 gals sytem as it said for sure

Thanks trido :)

i did not do zeovit,,by added 2nd skimmer BK250 supermain skimmer,,make my coral look like zeovit tank coral,my coral still growing ,,some love low nutrient grow and color, some start to lost the color,,after i removed 2nd skimmer had been 2 month already all color start to coming back as before,,,

yes for sure,,,as trido said,,,Dang 'd better stop screw around,,Dang for sure (Oum try to stop me once):heh::heh:,,just never listen:biggrin1:

shut up Dang! If any of us could have a gorgeous tank like yours we wouldn't be asking such questions! LOL... yeah I think you can overskim but I would think it would take a lot to really affect the SPS color... just my opinion. Like trido said, don't mess with success.

it took me 4 1/2 months to start to realize,,opps!!!,,just like i play with mangrove for 4 months that scew up my water ALK and MG,,opps!! too:tape::tape:,,,al cleaned up and cleared up,,should be good to go now,,,hehehe:caked:

My fault man, I miss read your post about the zeovit :frusty: I understand now.
A lot of zeovit corals turn pastel and pale looking and I suspect it is due to the lighting, usually under T5's along with improper water parameters.

Since your not doing it but still are seeing these trait's then yeah, I would suspect your system in low in nutrients.
I like Mike's idea of feeding the fish more. Maybe even just enriching their diets, instead of more food, if you already have a well established feeding routine.
