This algae/coral is growing in massive amounts on all my glass and acrylic. Its very tough and needs to be scraped off.

Anyone know what this stuff is? Even better know what I can do to reduce this? I am going to reduce my sump lights as its going crazy in there. My main display has it but Im scrubbing everyday to keep it down.

Thanks for any info.

Look like coralline algae. Its good stuff. But look ugly on glass. U can remove it with razor blade if glass, credit card if acrylic

Coralline algae. Nothing you can do to keep it from growing. Unless you lower your calcium levels to the point of killing it. Which would kill everything else too.
Part of reef keeping maintenance is scraping coralline from wherever we don't want it :)

You can see the typical coralline in the pic (the usual purple stuff) this stuff is just as hard, but not calcium like. Its a bit slimy on the surface, but even harder to remove than the typical purple coraline as that will tend to flake off , this stuff is seriously attached.

This stuff is brown and SUCKS,. Im going to try adding some bleach to the sump. Im sure that will take care of it. (just kidding)

If this is some type of coralline, man it sucks and you dont want it...
