Can you folks with aquacontrollers tell me how many pins and what type of connection you have for the serial cable. I'm wondering if I can provide ac users a tcp/ip connection to their aquacontrollers without the web interface. Ive got a great, real inexpensive option to eliminate the cable and get internet access.

Mine looks look that pinout is correct. =)

Out of curiosity, what're you using as the controller for the Serial->Ethernet conversion? Same thing you used for your automation project?

Ya its the same device a lantronics print server. I had a friend ask about getting tcp/ip without having to buy a newer more expensive aquacontroller. Since the servers are serial nobody uses them anymore for network printing. They can be had on ebay for a few dollars. I got mine for $1 plus shipping.

Very cool. Please keep us posted on your progress. I wouldn't mind having TCP access to my ACJr.

I'll know fairly soon. I'm waiting for a answer back from a guy that truely understands serial communications.

So here's the deal. It should work I'm going to order a new ac jr as soon as
AE get them back in stock. They are the cheapest but since I dont need this I'm going to be cheap and set it up, make it work and sell it off to someone that needs it.

Whats needed:
Lantronix eps1. This is a outdated tiny print server. They can be had on ebay. I paid a $1 for mine. As of right now there is one on ebay for $15 last week there were 20 of them so you need to just watch.

Two pieces of software ezwebcon and hello device serial port redirctor. Both of these are free.

Of couse you need a home network with one spare port in the hub/switch. One for the eps1 and the aquacontroller will plug into the eps1.
Once I get a aquacontroller I'll post detailed instructions on how to set up the eps1 and the redirector.
If you have a wireless network you should be able to sit on the couch and use the ACjr just as if you were connected with the cable.

Nope wont work. The acjr is not a real serial data port, its propriatary. I was able to get it to function but it was way to slow and useless.
