Aquadoser

Anyone have knowledge of the Kent Marine Aquadoser? It would be used for just topping off while on vacation. I am not very handy when it comes to plumbing.

The Aquadoser is a system by Kent Marine used for dosing. I want to use it for topping off evaporated water while on vacation. I was wondering if any one has used it and if it was difficult to set up. I am trying to find a users manual online but have had no luck.

The aquadoser is just a giant IV drip type system. The problem with dripping your top off is establishing rates. Some days my system uses 2.5 gallons and other 3.25. In all honesty its ok for dripping kalk at night but a nurse type system is probably the easiest. The nurse style is accurate (keeps sump level perfect) and very easy with no actual plumbing.
Do you have an estamate of your daily usage??

Then a three gallon nurse type unit should last quite a while. I didnt see a sump in your list so you would have to set it on top of your tank. You just need to get it above the water line.

Ok... I see what you are talking about....

Don is right. I suggest that you use this like several days before you take your vacation... so you can actually check if the this drip system can take care of the variable evap taking place in your tank.

Usually, this drip system are being use for topping off limewater but I suggest that you dont use limewater but instead straight fresh water to supply it so that you wont have clog issues while on vacation.

Water or lime water they are never accurate. The drip rate changes as the water level in the container changes. Way to much money for a gas can with a IV tube.

You are right... so I suggest that you adjust your final setting when theres 1/4 fluid left...

I will rather choose a fast drip on the first half of the container then slowly settle on the second half.... than slow on the beginning then stops on the last half.

I picked one up from Petco because it was on clearance for $8. It's been great for dripping kalk overnight or top off water, but it's really not too reliable. It might be fine if you just drip top off water, but not for unmonitored kalk dripping, the kalk builds up really easily and makes it hard to control the drip. I wouldn't use it to drip anything but plain water for more than a day.

I think in your case... that is the simplest way of doing it...

Without a sump... its gonna be hard but not impossible...

then connect a pump to it from a water source or reservoir or vat... to pump the water up to your tank....

You can use a nurse on the wall above your tank or on a shelf. You could use a float switch to trigger a pump from a bucket. I think I would trust the nurse a little more for vacations.
