AQUAMEDIC CALCIUM REACTOR

Does any one know anything about AQUAMEDIC CALCIUM REACTORS?

Are they any good? For that price it doesn't seem possible, but if they are a good product or someone is using one please let me know what you think.

Aquamedic Calc. Reactor

I am running an Aquamedic Reactor (the small one) on my 175gal and it is working great. It has been on my tank for about 3 months now. I did try to run it from a power head at first but i could not get the proper amount of effluent. It would either be to much so the p h in the chamber was to high or when I did get it to come out at the recommended rate it would run ok for a day or so but it would begin to slow down and than stop altogether. The amount of water going through the tiny ball valve is just to little. Any thing would clog it up. After trying to get it right for about a month I gave up and purchased the dosing pump that is made for the unit it now runs perfect. They do have ther own reactor media that is particularly nice .I like it because the size of the media is 4 to 5 times larger than the carib sea media allowing much better water flow through the reactor.

I we both talking about the Reactor? or are you speaking about the Kalk Strirrer they offer. Im just confused because you say the PH was too high?
Do you mean the CO2 couldn't lower it enough to get desired disolve rate for the media and thus you didn't get rich enough effluent. Or are you speaking about the Kalkstirrer?

Also, have you looked at there co2 kit. It looks pretty nice for the price (nifty little box and set up) Though the tank looks too small.

It is for sure a calcium reator. I would be refering to the water that is in the reactors p h. It needs to be down around 6.4 or so to desolve the media in the reactor. If the water that is circulated through isnt in the reactor long enough than the co2 doesnt lower the p h far enough. That is the problem that I had. All is good now as the p h stays around 6.3 to 6.5
