PSAS Members,

If you haven't yet done so, you must!!! What you ask? Make the trip east of the mountains to Aquatic Dreams in Spokane. Those of you that have, know exactly what I'm sayinig, and those of you that have not, don't know what you're missing!

The old saying, "...like a kid in a candy store" should be revised to say, "...like a reefer on the Great Barrier Reef"! What an absolute treat it was yesterday to visit with Kevin in his store as well as at his home. He stocks HUNDREDS of frags that are SPLENDID to say the least, and his prices are simply UNBEATABLE.

I left after a few hour visit with nine SPS frags, a beautiful clam, and enough saved money to enjoy a great dinner, drive home, and still have cash in my pocket!

I am already planning my next trip over there. I am thinking sometime in late June. I would like to get a group together to head over there and spend the day. Let me know if you might be interested. Regardless, make sure you take the time to visit Kevin at Aquatic Dreams.

Dr. Dean Neary
p.s. Kevin, all I can say is THANK YOU for a great visit and SUPER deal.

You know, the only reason that I don’t get into more trouble with my wife is because I don’t have a tank yet. (I got my membership card yesterday; watch out little inverts, here I come!) Then you people come in here and say, ‘Oh! You’ve got to check this out! Oh! You’ve got to check that out!’ That’s why you’re all striving to figure out where you can put a thousand gallon tank in your homes! There’s got to be a help group somewhere!

I found yesterday that I will be headed over to Spokane Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. So, following DrDeano’s advice I will head over to Kevin’s shop. Wish me luck!

Trevor

I am certainly hopeful that my tank move will come off well and I will be ready for a few new frags in June. Time will tell, but if the tank is ready for more frags, I don't know how I could say no.

Reedman,

Keep us informed of predicted due date for tank additions. We can adjust the date accordingly!

Dean

Oh, man; oh, man; oh, man. I can't take it anymore! These frags are gorgeous! I must have spent two and half hours in Kevin's store this afternoon. I got to tell you all, DrDeano's not lying! So many frags, so little time! Beautiful tanks, beautiful fish, beautiful frags! Lots of advice, dispensed with smile and friendly attitutude. All while trying to get a 'huge' shipment out to Texas.

Thank you Dean for pointing Kevin's shop out to me;
And thank you Kevin for walking me through, lighting, plumbing, circulation, and cycling questions!

And count me in for that trip in late June!

Trevor (live from Spokane!)

Trevor,

Glad to hear you agree! (you'd have to be a fool not to!)

Very worth the trip eh?

Yes, I want to plan a large road trip in June or so. I would like to assemble enough people to empty those beautiful frag tanks of his!

I will keep everyone posted and you all keep me up to date if you want to go as a group.

So what did you buy????

Dean

Dean,

Well, as I don’t have a tank yet, I didn’t get anything except information, and that was free!

Last Saturday, I get this PM from this weirdo who says that he’s just up the street from me, and that if I’d like, I could stop by and see his tanks, ask some questions, and oh, by the way, he’s got a tank for sale. That’s how I met Doug. (bufford) I hope to one day convert my garage into a walk in aquarium too! I got there around 7:30 and didn’t leave until 10:30ish. Beautiful set ups. Just sat there watching his tanks. Sure didn’t feel like three hours. (Doug’s not weird, well, O.K. maybe just a little. But who isn’t in this quest?)

Doug’s got an acrylic 110-gallon that he’s hoping to get rid of, and I’m going to pick it up. So, there’s my tank. I’ll build my own stand this weekend. So, that leaves, sump, pumps, protein skimmer, heaters, lights, canopy, fans, and plumbing. Did I forget anything?

While touring Kevin’s store, he shows me this just gorgeous 64 pound rock. (See what I mean about being weird?) He sells his rock at five bucks a pound. At those prices, I’ll make a trip as soon as I get my set up, up. And then pray that I’m armed with enough patience come June to not buy the store.

Last week when I found out that I was coming out here for three days, I figured that I’d stop by and take a look-see, just because the store’s a sponsor. Then you gave Kevin a plug, seconded by Doug who told me that if I was looking to do SPS, Kevin is “The Man.” So, thank you for holding the hand of the new kid!

I’m thinking that’s about that time to pull this together.

I've got five counted as wanting to go: Dean, John, Todd, Reedman (Sorry, I don't know your name,) and myself.

I’ll volunteer to drive, but I drive a Grand Cherokee. While the backseat will seat three, it’s like being in coach on Delta Airlines. While you get a seat, you just don’t get much room. (Always fly Alaska!) Then again, it is nice leather. Thoughts? Suggestions?

As when to go, I’ve got two requests: First being that first weekend I’m supposed to be Beaverton, so could we not go that weekend. The second request is that not go on a Sunday being that I teach Sunday School. (Don’t worry; I’ve got three and four year olds. I can’t do much damage there!) But I think the most influential person as to when we should go is Kevin. So, Kevin, when would you like us to come on over?

Being that Dean will be coming from the Bothell area, and I from Tacoma, the ideal location to meet would be where Hwy. 18 and I-90 meet. I just wouldn’t want to leave my car there. Does anyone know a safe, warm, fuzzy location to meet and carpool? Once we've decided that, then we can set up the meet time.

Let’s see: Who, What, Where, When, and How. I think that I’ve got all the bases covered here.

All the ballots had chads in them, so I wasn’t able to vote myself to the presidency. I don’t mean to come off as pushy, mean or over-ambitious, I just need to get plans set for next month as I’m running out of days already.

Keep in mind that our local reef club is having our meeting on the 22nd (at my place). You're all welcome to come to that too if you can get your trip arranged by Saturday.

Zeph

This meeting sounds better each time I hear about it. We have seven so far from Tri-cities planning on going. That would be cool if More people from Seattle area came down. If you want to talk Saltwater Aquariums, looking for new corals, watch a demostration on acrylic, plumbing, and I am pretty sure there will be some good deals. Spokane on the 22nd sounds like the place to be...Hope to see you there!

As long as I have a bit of notice as to when I'm definitely into going over to Kevin's. I live real close to where Dean is, so I would think we could car pool down to a meeting place in the middle (If Dean wants to do that).

Keep me posted on when this is going to take place.

Reedman,
Please look at Spokane and Midcolumbia Saltwater club site. I know Zeph will be doing a demonstration at 4 and the rest follows from there. This sounds like a really good meeting. Please feel free to check out both club forums. I hope you can make it this Saturday in Spokane Valley at 4pm for first demonstration. If you can not find Zephs house you can always stop by Kevin's Store. He usually heads over to club meetings. Hint- if you want something to drink before hand stop by a store before you see Kevin. He is ready to go to Meeting asap. I bet Charlie is chucking now...
Hope to see you there!

Hey Guys,

Wow! Thanks for the invitations!

When Dean had originally suggested the idea of getting a group together to go over to Kevin’s shop, he had said sometime in late June. I’ve talked with Todd, and he has to work, and I’ve got to be in Olympia this weekend. So we’d both be out. I don’t think that Reed meant one week notice for advanced planning.

With that being said, we’ve not heard from Kevin yet, and can we take a rain check for next month?

Trevor

Hey Trevor,

I think that's a good idea. Maybe toward the middle/end of June we can get the trip together and head over.

Hello,
Any day works for me. Just let me know 2 weeks in advance so I can have the maximum amount of frags for you :) I guess we could always trim some from the home tank too  They just won't be encrusted to rocks (I can't grow them that fast yet :) )

Regards,
Kevin
