My main "scape rock" - a porous ceramic Vida Rock - is showing a lot of algae. Aside from taking the tank chemistry steps required to reduce algae, I'd like to remove as much of the current growth as possible. None of my corals are permanently attached to the scape rock yet - I have them temporarily placed. This means I could fairly easily pull the entire rock piece out of the tank to do a thorough "scrub-down" and spot-treatment with peroxide.
I'm wondering if there are any cautions or down-sides to this method I might need to consider.
