It sounds like my euroreef skimmer pump may have fried. My wife said the power went out last night and now the skimmer will not do anything at all. The pump makes no noise or anything. It had a Sedra 3500 pump on it. It is a RS135 model. I am wondering if there are any other pumps that would make this skimmer perform even better than it did? If so how hard are they to make work?

Have you tried just cleaning it? Sometimes they will get caked up on the inside and not spin, even with out any noise.

I haven't yet as I am out of town at work. I will check it out on Thursday when I get home. I would like to get a different pump for it any way because the Sedra will not restart after I shut it down to clean it.

Maybe you should ask your wife to unplug the pump until you get home just incase it's trying to spin but can't and over heats or something.

and as far as the sedra pump, the thing to check is if the impellar magnet has swelled and has started to scrape against the impellar well, it's toast if so...if not then a muratic acid or good hot vinegar soak should do it.
