Well had Kevin test my water and it's at 6.0ppm. Definitely above what was advertised as a zero ppm system.

How much use has the DI cartridge had?

Brand new cheap cheap system, ebay special, i guess i'm lucky to get 6 ppm. Perhaps its not even DI resin in that cartridge. I emailed the guy and asked him why i'm getting 6 ppm out of a 0 ppm advertised system.

You could probably change out the DI cartridge and get down to 0. Chances are, to sell it cheap, they had the cheapest cartridges available in it. Changing out the cartridges will probably turn it into a great unit. Gotta love the Ebay crap that you have to improve upon...lol.

Very true, but the whole unit was $66 with shipping, pretty nuts and it beats running to the store every other day. Is it possible to just change out the resin in the current cartridge? So far i've already made about 30 gallons with the unit in the past few days. Despite being cheap it's not THAT bad hehe.

Yup - search the internet for bulk DI resin - filter guys and bulk reef supply have it - I prefer the color changing kind You'll want to check your cartridge and make sure you can pull the cap off and refill it, or if you need to buy a new container...

Thanks Joanne! I'll search a bit and see what i can do.

Yeah I thought nanos would be cool, since some of us are kinda stuck with having nanos aka apartment, space, etc... They can be quite challenging at times with the small volumes to keep all the parameters in line. And stressing the weekly or bio weekly water changes for those that run skimmer-less <. Perhaps we could go over some nice equipment that is nano oriented. Also we could talk about what species of fish and inverts are suitable for such an environment.

I dunno, it just sounds kinda interesting since its a trend that is catching on.
