Auxiliary sump

That's an interesting idea Mike. Might even be able to make it bigger if I could join two pieces for the bottom as well.

That sounds like a doable idea, you could just frame it up & build it inside, shorta sounds like a challenging project for the crawl space!

3/4" Plywood, 2'x2'x8' lined with thin glass or any Plexiglas while outside. Pass the three each 2x8 pieces and 2 each 2x2 pieces through the hole. Frame together with a 2x4 lumber exoskeleton, and seal the inside joints with silicon cement. 240 gallon sump that easily fits the existing hole.

Thats good, but your thinking too display tankish.

Use, instead, (5) 33" x 96" panels so you end up with a tank 33" x 96" x 96".

Thats 1316.6 gallons.

If a lot is good, and more is better, then too much is just enough.

opening allows maximum 24" To make it bigger, need to add modules...

Don't forget a 2'X2' hole has a diag of about 33"... so its possible for slightly larger than just the 24". However, like Brian said earlier, because this access is under a stairway, that angle will cut down on size also.

24" * (2)^1/2 = 33"

Yeah he did say the 8' length was probably too long, so make it 6'

72" x 72" x 33" = 740 gal :) hehehe :)

If you call Laird, they have 1/2 white Chem-cast GP, and Spartech Polycast on liquidation sale right now. the 33" tall is pushing 1/2 limits but if you brace it, lay down strips on all the seams, you can get away with it. Remember the actual burst strength of cast acrylic is aprox 10,000 psi, it will flex and look like a football (unless you brace it) but it will hold water just fine.
