I have a Bangaii Cardinalfish that has not eaten for about 1 week. Our parameters were out of whack about a month ago (low ph, high salinity), but have been corrected and monitored closely. He has eaten less and less since the parameter issue. He now looks lathargic, and every once in a while he twiches for a second and floats sideways a bit. Other than that he has no physical signs of illness. Does anyone know what this is and what can treat it? We have a quarantine tank set up and can medicate if necessary.

You might try adding garlic to his food. You could also put him in the qT and use hyposalinity to cut down the stress on him.

I always use garlic but he still isn't eating. I'm wondering if he's stressed or if he may have caught a disease that we might be able to cure?

If you QT him and lower the salinity you will reduse his stress and see if any underlying problem shows up

have you checked oxygen and amonia/other nutrients. i agree with the lower salinity, preferrably in the present tank if your other livestock can handle it, to cut down on the stress of catching and movig a fish that is already showing signs of stress/disease. hopefully none of the balancing agents you used got in his gills?

What was the pH and salinity before you corrected it? What have you been feeding the cardinal and do you add any vitamins to the food?

How long have you had the fish, how was it acclimated and what tank mates (species)?

Some tank history/set up info will help...

Cheers
Steve
