Barrier Reef offer

Folks, we should take up the offer of Barrier Reef. I don't shop there but I am sure a lot of people do and we'll raise some money. Please reply back with yay or nay.

I'll put my money where my mouth is. This is just one off-the-cuff idea. I'm sure it could be refined to benefit the club, consumer, and store even more. If the PSAS wants to send out an email and put up a post we can try this from this saturday until next friday. We have about 40 of the farmed Ricordea florida in-stock. For every PSAS member who says "I am buying this to support the club" when purchasing one of these Rics we will donate $5 to the club. If all 40 go there's a quick $200 for sending out an email and putting up a single post. Someone from the BOD please PM me if you want to do this so I know its happening and can tell the crew. Please emphasize that we must be told that the purchase is being made in support of the club.

Im not sure that right now, with the campaigning going on, is the right time to accept this offer. JMO.

Rather than BR jumping in with a support message and then utilizing it for advertising. I know it isnt intended as this, but might be seen this way. I think that in the future to start a specific thread with such an offer would be more appropriate.Then it would give all of our sponsors a fair chance to offer up such deals.

I am wondering why we are hesitating. It is a generous offer that I feel they are doing to show they support the club in spite of whatever they have heard that made them mention drama. I am disturbed that they are talking about drama behind the scenes as I am the one that talked to them and we did not talk about the election other than Chris was not aware Steven had resigned. I talked about our hopes to increase membership and better support our sponsors.

All sponsors will have plenty of opportunities to make offers. I think they are just making a good faith offer to show that they do not have any issues with the club.

Initially I thought this would be a good idea, though I doubt the club will make much from this.

Then I saw the quoted information from Ed. Isn't that sort of a threat of Black Mail? Are we going to cave in whenever a Sponsor threatens us?

We've also dropped membership application for 2008-09 to Barrier Reef so you can also pick up the application form as an added bonus while you are there in case you have not gotten a chance to do so

We do not want to sound money hungry. I would just say that Barrier Reef has made a special offer to Members of PSAS for a short time only. They have offered a deal on Recordia. I do not think we need to add any more.
