bb ? sand bed ?? other options ????

finally getting around to setting up my cube soon and tossing around options options include ,
bare bottom
standard sand bed
or ??? and this is where it gets tricky

wanting to pick your brains about other options ... what kind of ideas do you have ????

like the idea of bare bottom
like the look of sand bed
is there a combo ???
maybe glued sand ???
please chime in , pref with pics if your doing something different

Here's what I do in all of my tanks. http://www.reeffrontiers.com/forums/f14/info-pvc-board-59909/. I can't do the sand thing eventhough I love the look of it. It just has too many cons for my application. What I do (what you will see in the link above) gives me the illusion of sand without having to have it.

If you talk with Jason at CFI, he says he has it in black as well and I think grey. It's in the link I posted so if you wanted something for a little protection on the bottom of the tank and didn't want the white, you have a few options other than just plain glass.

I have read were some have glued sand to the botton. But it is soon covered with coraline.

Yeah I saw a thread over on the other forum where they created a sheet of epoxy with sand in it...kinda cool actually.

Depends on what you plan on keeping. Personally, I like and have a DSB as I love orange diamond sand sifting gobies. So the decision for me was simple. I have not had any issue with nitrification as I haven't siphoned the sand (nor should you) since Ive had the tank running. (that is what the gobies are for)

I like the look of a fresh clean sandbed, but they never stay fresh and clean looking for long, and with the flow I'm running in my 120 display, I would have a constant sand storm.

I've been running my 120 BB for about 5 years now. Its easier to siphon out the detritus piles when I can see where they collect.

Hey Seth...I think when I googled it before, Lowe's and Home Depot came up so you could probably check them if you don't want to drive far. Also, if there any shops in the area that do vinyl stickers and make signs, sometimes they use the pvc board to make the signs out of and stick the lettering to that so that's another place you can check.
