(Okay, I finally have to admit it--I've got the brown stuff...diatoms? and it seems to grow overnight sometimes, esp. on the glass...)

Who's the best snail on the (glass) cleanup crew?

Astrea? Turbo? Cerith? Nassarius? Bumblebee? Queen Conch?

i just bought 3 nerite snails to test them out on my glass, they haven't left it since i put them in, i'd recommend them, i got them thx to SWC $1 a piece

Cerith are detritus eater but starve to death in a clean tank.
Bumblebees are a not safe.
Turbos get big and knock everthing over.
Astreas do fine but cant or wont flip them selves back over. I'd do 1 per gallon.

are margaritas different than the ones you mentioned, or are they the same as astreas?

Margatitas are temperate and usually mistaken for turbos. They are easily had in cooler water and sold all over ebay as turbos. They do not live long in a 80 degree reef.

Sounds like Cerith's and Nerites are the favorites on glass...

i wanna know too !!! is that a regular price or is it a sale thing?

Blue sierra used to have some cute orange shell snails ... very cute ones but for 3 bucks ... hehe ain't happening for me :p .

lol cute snails, i don't really worry about my snails being cute, i'm more of a functionally kinda guy when it comes to snails, but i mean people look at different things

i like my torchus snails when they wind up cause someones on there shell..

i once saw my hermit crab herb my largest one get tossed off the back of a small torchus snail.

gosh, my nerites are frikkin useless. they dont do anything. how ever i do like my astreas becuause they eat all my hair algae. =)

That's exactly the kind of info I'm looking for!!!:)

Sounds like no one has knocked the Ceriths yet,
so I'll probably get a mixed bag of many types but heavy on the Ceriths.

I might have to pass on Astreas though--they can't flip themselves over!!
How do they survive in Nature???
Wait for a wave come around to knock them back over?!?

(But now the wheels are set in motion, a plan begins to form....)
"Yes Dear, but I have to go buy a wave-maker for the tank now--the Astreas keep falling over but they can't get up...."
(Wouldn't that be one heck of an excuse for new equipment!)
