Big problem with algea a.k.a. bacteria

LOL! There are benefits to using mechanical filters, but you just have to stay on top of keeping any filter pads, sponges etc that are used cleaned/changed. Remember, anything allowed to settle in them and rott will ultimately work against you so you you have to be prepared to clean them regularily. Some people use filter sopcks in their sumps for incoming water to pass through. That is a form of mechanical filtration etc. I typically rather have high flow and allow everything to be taken to my skimmer and what that misses I siphon up when doing my water changes. However, that's what works best for me:)
 
yeah I just have a filter in the over flo tank to the refuge and a sponge in the the refuge inbetween the rock and water area (pump spot)

DOES ANTYONE KNOW EXACTLY WHAT STAR FISH ARE REEF SAFE AND EASY TO CARE FOR
