Is Diesel popular in the States ?

It is popular for trucks but not very popular in cars. Only a few manufactures sell new diesel cars here. ex VW and Mercedes.

Oh ok. Diesel has caught on here fast and is very popular. Most manufactures offer at least one diesel derivitive in their range. I myself have a diesel car although it is probably considered a truck / suv (Landcruiser Prado). Most of my friends drive diesel powered cars and have never looked back.
