I have been searching for a bit for information on this coral. I have found nothing specific I need to know.

I have acquired 2 small frags about 3 weeks ago. The Polyps are smaller than a dime. I know they get a little bigger as I have seen the colony they came from. They are in direct MH light approximately 18" from the surface. They get very random flow from my wave maker, not direct flow either. If the spot was filled with a grassy field it would be blowing gently in the wind.

They do not seem to be doing well at this time. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

My Blastomussa Wellsi is doing Fantastic. It has grown from 2 small polyps to 16-20 polyps in the past 4 months. It is 5" deeper with approximately the same amount of flow and light, though the flow is not as random.

Immitate the ocean the sun and they'll do just fine Ron:p (LOL) Naw man...Never heard of them before. Maybe you should post a pic sometime if you can get a shot. I'd love to see what they look like! Hope you find out all you need to know man:)

In my experience, Blastomussa merleti likes a higher nutrient environment. My best B. merleti growth coincided with a bad nuisance algae outbreak.

Thanks Krish, your always a ray of sunshine in my ocean of wonder. LOL

I guess they are not to great for a tank running Ozone and Zeolith? Those things combined I'd need to target feed them fish poop. haha...Hopefully there is hope for these guys yet.

i'm not an expert here dood but have you tried feeding them anything?
I know it sounds crazy but with all the sps, lps, soft coral food i see probably it just need a little bit of feeding.
I hope it gets better dood.

Well, because I run Ozone and Fauna Marin Zeolith, I dose a mixture of foods to add good nutrients to the tank. I mix all Fauna Marin products. Ultra min S, Ultra Min F, Ultra Clam (it is specifically designed for LPS, SPS and clams) Ultra Life and Ultra Booster. I dose about 3ml twice daily. I don't target feed because my Acros explode as sson as I add it. I don't see the point to target feed right now.

Hi Detri, I've got a Blasto Merleti colony that I've had for about 7 months now and is doing well. Mine is place about 20" from the surface almost directly under a 250w MH (XM 10K). Flow is medium. I've never target fed it. I remember that when I got it, it took about 2 weeks to settle in before it started opening to full polyp extension.

no worries about the ozone, it's fine here and does far more good than harm. I highly recommend it.

I do agree too that this coral is rather "hungry" and aggressively nutrient scrubbed tanks are not ideal for Blastomussa species.

Thats great thanks! I'll try and direct my nutrient dosing in the direction of them for a while to see if it turns it around. the one frag seems a little better today. I'll see how it goes tomorrow.

I'll give it a bit more time to see how things go.
