Any one have a good tip for cutting one of these in half? I'm wanting to turn it into a mixing station, but I've already broken two dremel cutting wheels XD

Have someone sit on it and hack saw. If u don't have a skill saw. Just draw a line or roll it and just cut it like I would with out the line lol.

Why u cutting it in half... Using the other half for fresh?
D

The hole is too small. Biggest reason I'm trying to cut it down a bit is to make it more space-efficient and easier to move around. Since I rarely need to do more than a 25g water change, I don't need the full size barrel. I've been trying to find a smaller barrel that doesn't cost an arm and a leg, but haven't had any luck. Next stage is to build a wheeled platform to set it on.

I'm gonna try to pick up a better cutting wheel for my dremel, or borrow a saws-all from a coworker.

For my smaller water changes I have a brute 32 gallon container with a wheel kit. It's pretty handy. I am able to put 27-28 gallons of water in it and wheel it down my carpeted hall way.

Well crap. I bought some cutting wheels meant specifically for cutting metal and plastic. Not only was it not cutting deep enough, the disc broke off and it bent the shank for the disc. Damn these barrels are strong!

If you could get it down to my house, I have enough different tools, and between the two of us, we could get it cut.

If you know someone in construction, it is likely they have a sawzall. It will only take a few minutes. Brute garbage cans work great & they have multiple sizes. I use 2 myself.

Infact I now have it sitting outside soaking with about 30 gals of water and 2 gals of bleach.
