Hello all Reef Frontiers members-

Blue Sierra now has someone specifically in charge of posting threads on our Vendor Forum. We will have question and answer forum,updates on in-store specials, updates of our website, and best of all information of incoming shipments. For future shipments we will list exactly what we have coming in with prices listed for in-bag purchases (same day shipment) and prices for in-tank purchases(day after shipment). We also will start having a monthly give away of merchandise or gift certificates.

Blue Sierra has always appreciated the support of Reef Frontiers members and hope to continue our growing relationship in 2006 and on. Thank you to everyone who shops and supports LFS in the area as we all know how tough an industry this is to compete in with the ever growing presence of the on-line market. Hopefully we will all be able to help each other keep growing in 2006 and on. Thanks for your continued patronage

I think the ''in the bag'' sale is a great idea. A store in Sacramento does that and it is very popular! It's great to know what's coming for those of us who are pretty far away.

am i correct in assuming in the bag is cheaper?
what days do shipments usually come in?
and can specific items be requested?

You are correct the in the bag will save you money. The prices once the fish is tanked (next day) the price goes up to regular price. We usually get shipments on Monday, Wednesday, or Thursday those are usually the largest shipments. Once I get dialed in I will give an idea of orgin and nature of the shipment at least 3 days in advance. Then I will be able to post prices 24 hrs in advance. For instance, I may post, Monday next week Bali cultured Acroporas. Then you want to check on Sunday or early Monday morning to see if something interests you. As always I do have to deal with unforeseen delays due to suppliers or airlines so I would always encourage you to call ahead of time.(Please do not post or e-mail we can't check e-mail all day).

Shipment updates difficulties

The problem we have had, is adapting a inventory for what we have coming in our shipments to scanning it or e-mailing it to our website and then connecting it to RF. It is a much bigger task to even get the suppliers to get us a air way bill for a shipment, then to get them to fax a invoice before hand, and even harder to have them e-mail a invoice a night ahead of time. I can list each week what orgin the shipments are coming from but what good does that do people still want to know exactly what is coming in. Recently I haven't even been able to get invoices until the shipment morning by that time it is too late I have to go to the airport pick up the shipment after it arrives in the morning and get to the store by 10AM to open the store. I also don't spend all day around my computer just answering to post on RF from people who rarely shop my store anyways. If you don't like what LFS have to offer you don't have to shop, but at some point you will probably need a LFS for some reason. So find something better to do then rip LFS that are trying their hardest to support RF and this industry.

It isn't easy trying to place orders & getting what you order, In this world is just doen't happen, usually you get what they can supply. It is good to find a LFS & get to know them well, eventually you will need them, It is a matter of finding the ones that will help you, some will even work with you on pricing if you give them regular busness, It took a while but I found places like that I can go to & deal with.

Actually Blue Sierra is the only LFS that I go to in the area so I definitely support your shop.

I wasn't criticizing you or your operations. You had someone from your store post this - "Blue Sierra now has someone specifically in charge of posting threads on our Vendor Forum. To this day that account has only 1 post.

What I was stating was that it sounded like a great idea and was disappointed that it did not happen. thanks for the clarification on why it did not.

ya, i agree with matt, i buy most of my stuff at your store, only made one live stock shipment from online and all but 3 of my corals are from your store but ya, umm what about a update of not what's in bag but just what's in stock at end of days or something, i dunno, i didn't mean to offend you in any way

i agree with MarineTeng, it'd be nice if you could post at the end of the day what's in stock (not that i'm trying to save money on my phone but i think it'd be nice ).
And don't feel offended, we just wanna know .
For me all i can say to you (Blue Sierra) is that may be you haven't noticed me but all my tank.. set up, filtration, foods, fishes ... everything i have bought, it came from your store and i'd like to see may be once in a while a post on what you got in stock... just so i can do more field trips to your store.

hey blue sierra, you guys rock. can't wait til the in bag purchasing gets up and running! i'd so go to the store more often than i already go oh btw, the current orbit lights are freakin awesome on my 20l. you guys were so right about how everyone should get one.
