I don't understand your question, what do you mean by bonding? How would that prevent die off?

He wants to glue/cement or zip-tie the live rock together for landscaping.
Many schools of thought on this. I have always used superglue gell. Many like colored two part epoxy putty. Others drill and tie. I will be creating a rock wall using similar

We used "Water Weld", a product made by JB Weld and available at Home Depot in the paint department with all the specialty glues and epoxy's. It's a two part putty like stick that you knead together and have about 15 minutes of working time before it hardens. Our tank was new with no corals or fish in it yet but when I contacted the manufacturer they claim it is completely safe.

Like Mike says above, drilling holes and using acrylic rod to connect the rock allows you to move things around a bit later if you want.

IMO I think what the OP wants to do is keep the rock submerged so there is zero die off. Drilling and rodding would involve the rock being out of the water for periods of time. The stuff we used keeps everything underwater the entire time is that's what you want. Just my .01

LR can go a long time out of water before you loose much, I'm guessing you have a long time out of water, being tied together shouldn't make it last any longer, unless I'm missing something here?

@ The Sea Monkey: Hahahaha, It does tend to keep the bit cool :)
@ Eric, I do agree that the epoxy is a nice way to go if you are sure about how you want your rocks!
