Hi all. So I have an extra set of Advance metal halide ballast (M58) for a 250W bulb. I've got an electrical cord...the reflector...the socket.

The ballast itself has a flat bracket welded on it with holes for two screws. My question is, what is the most common box that I should put this in?

I installed 2 of these in a bigger electrical box a couple years ago, but now only have one, and want a smaller box.

What exact box and where would I get that? (Home Depot? Lowes?)

Here are the ballast parts.

Thanks,

Hmm, looking for something locally in Seattle. I can do all the wiring, drilling, etc..I have mogul socket, reflector.

Just need a metal box, the safest smallest box i can fit this in.

A few years back when I built my 175 halide system I bought a small electrical box that you use to place a household alarm system in. It even had a small lock/key. :) It was about 6" x 6" x 3" or so and they had other sizes. It was at some electrical place on Aurora....yes I know it's a long street. :) I can't remember the name though as I was just driving by and saw it and went in.

fuse box locally founf at McLendons... or since you are a good DIYer... why not make one made out of acrylic...

I was thingking of using some old computer power supply complete with fans.... you can even use a lighted fans so it will look cool....

Also try to go to RE-PC. they so many gizmos in there that Im sure you can think of something cheap...

Ok now we're talking ;) Thanks for the ideas Cesar. I'll see what I can muster up. I'll keep this updated. I could use another MH.....for a propagation tank...... :p so I must hook this up..

Well I came up with this. Outer layer is 3/4" plywood, lined with metal sheets in the inner portion (bottom and top). Sorry about my foot :eek2: Installed a larger PC type fan, the 4.5" fan, instead of the 3 incher.

I tested it with a bulb at Below Sea Level and it works.
