I posted this pic elsewhere, but does anyone have a clue what this branching brown algae (behind the goby in the pic) could be? It looks like its trying to be an acro :p Its rigid, and will probably snap off if I tried. I will get some better pics tonight

If you can get a pic of it out of the tank against a white background that would be great. I'd like to see it closer. I wonder if it is a Rosenvingea sp., like Rosenvingea fastigiata.

I'll give it a shot, until I feel like getting wet check these pics out, they are large and sorta blury, but I just snapped a couple off real quick so I can finish dinner and what not.

click on the image when the page loads to go actual size. I'll get back with a pic of a piece out of the tank in a bit!

I know nothing but it sort of reminds me of some sort of kelp.I have no idea but it looks squishy like the kelp that washes up on the beach here in southern california. Obviously the leaves etc. don't look the same.

I would say you are cloes Nikki. You must have the Littler Indo book. I have all 3. It is more like Rosenvingea sanctae-crucis Not many good pics on the net

Thanks, Boomer. At least I was on the right track. Yes, I do have Littler...South Pacific Reef Plants. I didn't know there were more! Now I have 2 more to add to my "want list".

Nikki

Their first one was a small field guide on Caribbean algae. Then they came out with the really big Caribbean vol. bigger that your Indo. The Indo was their last book. The large Caribbean book is much nicer than the Indo. The best pic of this algae is in the field guide book.

LOL Why do you keep using your gfs screen name and confusing me??? Oh wait, maybe this is the girlfriend. If so, Hi!! I want some of that algae!! What's the chances of setting another small rock next to it to allow it to grow onto??

haha, that was the gf. It is growing out of the side of that rock next to it, I should be able to place a small rock up in there and 'frag' it out. I'll put one up there tonight for you and let you know how it goes. Could be aother month or so before we get anything out of it :/

boomer and nikki, I still havent pulled a piece out of the tank to take a pic yet, but I will tonight
