Breeding burgia nudibranch?

Just wondering if anyone has done this successfully? I picked up 5 of them today all about 1/2" to 3/4" long. I'm thinking I'll breed them separately from my dt so my swarms of amphipods don't eat the eggs. Currently I have them in a clear Tupperware container wedged between my lid and side of tank. It is half submerged so it'll stay warm. I'm thinking I'll toss in an aiptasia every other day and add tank water to make up for evaporation. Is this a good way to breed them? My other thought is to buy a 10g tank and a small heater for them? I'm also wondering at what point do I add each burgia to my tank??

I asked the salty underground folks about it... they said for breeding you needed to provide each bergias 17 aiptasia continually. They have to be fat and happy.
I have wrasse, so the only way they would work for ne would be to raise them in my fuge.
The salty underground folks answered a lot of questions for me, and actually talked me out of buying them, because my chances of the being successful in my scenario were low. I would 100% recommend emailing then with questions... we went through 5 or 6 emails without me ever making a purchase

Wow 17? I've done quite a bit of research and haven't read anything like that. But thanks for the advice, I'll definitely check with them

For breeding shape, yeah... thats what they said. For just getting them to clean the tank was different. I was really hoping they were going to be a good solution for me. I am thrilled tho that they tal I enjoy me out of it. Good business to set your customers up for success

I may be wrong here but after reading there q and a section I get the feeling that they meant 17 aiptasia per nudibranch in order to have them breed in your tank. I'm wondering about keeping them in a small (6"x6") container and directly feeding them aiptasia so there will be no predators or searching for food. At least that's what I'm hoping they meant, feel free to tell me I'm wrong. I'll be emailing them to get some detailed info

Hmm OK that's not what I wanted to hear. Although I do know amphipods love nudibranch eggs so that would be an issue. Well I'm sure that if I need a ton of aiptasia to make this work some of might fellow refers on rf probably wouldn't mind parting with some!

Salty Underground is here in StLouis and I've had the pleasure of meeting and speaking with Lisa about bergia nudibranchs....breeding them is a fair amount of effort. Actually keeping them fed enough to breed is alot of effort.

Basically you need a regular supply of aptasia to feed your berghia...that is the tough part.

Give Lisa a call and pick her brain...she'll happily tell you all she can.

U can ask her, im sure she would be more than happy to help set u up. Yes constant supply of aptasias is the hard part me thinks.

Funny how something that is such a rapidly growing pest that can completely overgrow a tank in short order is the limiting factor for the predatory slug that eats them in the wild.....
