RF,

A good friend of mine, who is at the top of the Reef Keeping hobby, ordered up a steel stand a few weeks ago. Didn't seem that heavy on paper, they seldom do!
The structural steel stand is 72.25x48.25x30, and we used all 2"x2"x 3/16" square tubing. Bricky also wanted to place a piece of 3/4" plywood in the bottom and wanted to have me weld in some 1.25" square tube so it would be flush with the top of the bottom rail. He also wanted to beef it up with a vertical post in the middle of each end, but with one being removable, no problem!

All ready for Powder Coating

Removable vertical brace, and on the right side is the 1.25" supports for the plywood, the stand is on it's side

Very nice Jason. It will be nice seeing it support something very soon ;)

I'm ready as soon as it's powder coated. Looking forward to my lagoon with an emphasis on montipora's and macro algae's.

Nice! Ive been thinking bout a steele stand for my 215. The wood stand its on makes me nervous. It just started making squeeking noises recently...lol

Here's a few great shots of the stand finished and capped with a sweet tank. Thanks Jason for putting your skills to work for me once again.

Unless your Dad is a professional, I'd stick with the professional (Clear Fab). You'll get a warranty and a completely square stand. As you can see from the first pic Jason has a WWII table that helps keep everything square when building. If your stand isn't square you're setting your tank up for a disaster.

Jason has been building tanks and the stands for them for quite some time. He just knows what they need to last.
