I have a brittle star fish that is losing its skin on its legs. It has normal scales then the last little bit is white. I was just wondering if he is stressed out or is something wrong with my tank. I just got him in the last couple weeks. When i checked my levels last night the ph was 8.2 and the other were zero.

Thanks

David

feeding

I have been feeding my tank blood worms and brine shrimp. It is really hard to target feed the star because he is at the buttom of my 3 ft tank. IPut a little extra in to get in to drop all the way down. He has not been real active since i got him.

Thanks

David

He may be starving, and may have been in that condition already when you bought him. I read that when they die from starvation they slowly disintegrate....have you tried target feeding him, like putting the food directly under his foot?

Its starving and unfortunately, this is the norm in most tanks. Get some long tongs or jab a sewing needle into the end a dowel. You can skewer a cocktail shrimp on, place next to the star, and it will pull the food off. These guys are typically active and big feeders!

hello

That is what i thought i will try to do that as soon as i get home. Thank you for your help.

my brittly brown bob, gets hungry from time to time, and when i notice him start to come out for food more, i give him something so he will go back 2 his hole...

silver side, or krill.... he eats anything he can touch pritty much... but he does share a cave with a fish at night

what kindda brittle we talking about? what color is he?

they are pritty hardy, you should be able to just feed him and he will recover,

My brittly (brown bob) came in a rock that i got, b4 i even set up the tank,

he lived thur the cylce, and makes sure that the tank is meat free,

hes also about 15" tip 2 tip

naw... that was a while ago...(3 months) he was cleaning the power heads, and the over flow a little....

everyone once and a while he goes to the upper corrners,

he also came in the rock when i got the rock over a year ago... he lived thur the cylce, ( his name is brown bob) hes a strong little starfish....

and he can eat way more then i can feed.
