what causes it? how do you arrest it? how can you prevent it?

a friend gave me a few of his torches that were effected by BJD, and i placed them in my frag tank. i blew off all of the jelly and tried dosing the tank with vitamin c. i don't know what it was that did it, but after losing 1 more head, the BJD stopped.
months later, i have a torch with the same issue. i'm doing the same thing i did before, but i'm curious if there is another way.
how about a coral dip?
iodine?
lugols?

thanks.

I surely dont have the answers your looking for but, Hi Mr X.

Welcome to reef frontiers

Recently we had a guest speaker at one of our club meetings regarding reef pests and BJD was brought up. I do remember that it was very imprstant to vacuum the jelly out of the tank while cleaning the coral to keep it from spreading. If it were me I'd be quick to give the coral an Iodine dip.
