The wife brought home a BTA yesterday because she thought she would surprise me (and the clown was lonely). I need advice on it's care. It is about 4" across. I put it in the tank and it seems to be doing fine. It is moving around quite a bit. I don't know if it is just trying to find a place it likes. The clown is in full on mollest mode, so I dont know if that is why it is moving so much. Also feeding (what, how often). Any advice would be much help.

I would try and keep the clown away for a couple of days so that it can adjust tto the water and acclimate to the new tank. Sometimes i've had clowns beat on the anenome so much right away that it died and believe me that when an anenome dies in your tank you'll want that out right away because if you wait it smell really really bad!

Well what you could do is get buy like a pint of strawberries and use the green plastic container to cover the anenome just to keep the clown away. or if you can buy a isolation container thatsits inside the tank with the netting type walls. and keep the clown in there for a couple of days until the anenome fids a happy home and is settled in. In could take a couple of weeks but its better than a dieing anenome. Thats what i would do.

As for feeding an anenome i really am not sure. I have a purple tippped anenome in my tank i have never fed it anything so i'm guessing it just feeds on whatever i have floating in the water.

i feed mine frozen formula (red kind) a little piece of that every once a week and it seems to love it (it's a long tentacle though but i think it's the same for all the anemones) some people feed them krill, silverslide (sorry i don't know how to spell it :p ), i'd try the frozen formula unless someone says something different.
RB anemones are known to move around quite often but as soon as they find the place they like, they stay there.

i'd go more for like the fresh table shrimp in that case because i have heard that the frozen kind doens't have to much good in it.... not sure though.

Hi. I also wouldn't try to feed it while it's moving around. Give it a week or so to adjust to the stress of the move and his/her new surroundings. Then any of the above mentioned foods. As for the cocktail shrimp, you can try soaking them in Selcon or some other vitamin supplement. Good luck!

I agree with Ariel ....i mean Little mermaid :D :p .
There's a thread before about making your own food for fishes and corals in here and it seems like all of them had selcon in them .
