My return pump can pull air from a pretty high surface and blow it into the tank. I put a piece of open cell foam over the pump inlet ,just floating and it helps when the sump gets low from Evap. so it doesn't pull air. If I'm pulling air on the return then the sump needs water added.
 
tat2z when you added the chiller did you change the shape of the plumbing parts on the intake side of the pump ? I know if you put 90's in front of the intake side of the pump you will get cavitation.
 
No the chiller lines are just your traditional soft lines (clear vinyl), I believe that what was causing it was that I didn't have restriction on the output side of the pump.
 
So just to be clear, your issue was solved when you slowed down the flow from your return pump?

Yeah, I've had loc-line introduce micro bubbles into my system before.

Its not air tight and can suck air in while its blowing water through....
